Bronze for Pear Tree and Arnhall nurseries
Pear Tree Nursery in Haddington and Arnhall Day Nursery in Dunblane have achieved the Bronze Food for Life Catering Mark for serving fresh and healthy meals.
Commenting on their achievement, Gillian Harvey, Manager at Pear Tree Nursery said:
“We are absolutely delighted to achieve this award, we believe in doing everything we can to give children the very best start. We are committed to supporting our children and families in health and wellbeing and feel the Catering Mark highlights our dedication to high quality nutrition and healthy choices.”
Pear Tree Nursery’s suppliers are known for their high quality produce. Meat is supplied by Campbell’s Prime Meat, fish from JK Thomson of Musselburgh and fruit and vegetables from George Anderson of Macmerry. Gillian Harvey said:
“George Anderson were very supportive on food provenance and traceability, we were able to discuss where our vegetables came from and foster an interest with the children in growing our own and working with seasonal fruit and vegetables.”
Angela Mitchell, Acting Director of Soil Association Soil Association Scotland, said:
"Food for Life Scotland works in partnership to transform food culture and put good food on the menu, in the curriculum, and in all the places people live their daily lives.
We’re delighted to be working with Pear Tree Nursery and Arnhall Day Nursery and have been hugely impressed by their commitment to ensuring the meals they serve are fresh, seasonal and sustainable. Gaining the Bronze Food for Life Catering Mark is a real achievement, reassuring parents about the food their children are eating.”
Big congratulations go to the teams at Pear Tree Nursery and Arnhill Day Nursery!
