P4 are soup champions at Davidson's Mains PS...

by P4, Davidson's Mains PS, City of Edinburgh

At Davidson’s Mains Primary School, P4 were lucky enough to get the job of picking the vegetables from the garden at the back of the school and were amazed how many carrots, pumpkins, peas, broccoli, cauliflower and cabbages there were.  The cabbage didn’t turn out very well because the slugs had eaten them.

After that we all went back to the classroom to wash the dirt off and chop the vegetables. Mrs Robertson, our classroom helper, got a BIG pot and put some oil in it.  We cut mounds of the juicy vegetables using cutting boards and sharp knives – we took turns.  We all popped the chopped veg in the pot. We poured lots of water into the pot and mixed the ingredients all together.  It was boiling in the pot.  We all got a stir and it was fun.

After a while we stirred the soup again and then we put it in a blender. We watched the vegetables spin like crazy with the blender - the soup almost came out of the pot!

We took the silver blender out of the soup, then we got to eat the delicious and fantastic soup!

It was so easy you could try to make it!

  1. You pick the veg you want in soup.
  2. Bring them into your kitchen.
  3. Wash and cut up veg.
  4. Cook it.
  5. Enjoy eating it.
