Growing the Christmas Dinner

by Lochgilphead Joint Campus, Argyll and Bute

After raising money selling refreshments at the Christmas concert we decided to have a new challenge for 2014 – to ‘grow the Christmas dinner’.

We have tried to grow all the plants linked to Christmas including grapes (for raisins) and lemons (for the teachers' G&Ts), as well as the more usual parsnips, carrots, sweetcorn, peas and beans, potatoes, cranberries, herbs and Brussels sprouts!

We thought hatching turkeys was a step too far, however, after fundraising at Easter we bought an incubator and roosting box and have hatched 3 chickens.

Our parsnips have grown particularly well!
