Fabulous Foody Time

by Christine Emmett

For a full week the whole school and nursery explored and enjoyed a variety of exciting Food and Nutrition experiences. There were school visits from Caurruthers Fruit/vegetables, Quality Meat Scotland, Seafood Scotland, NHS Nutritionist, Asda, Milk Expert, Hendersons Butchers, Vintage Tractors and Active Schools. Classes visited local farms to learn about food production and Seniors visited the local Good Food Restaurant to learn about working in the Catering Industry. Throughout the Food Week children prepared, tasted and learned  primarily about Autumn Seasonal  Food Products and how these influence Health and Wellbeing. Staff also enjoyed an after school Scottish Cooking Workshop by RHET(Royal Highland Education Trust).  A very big St Elizabeth`s Thank You to everyone for their very valuable contributions and in particular to Kris Krocker, local RHET Coordinator, for working with the school to facilitate such a Fantastic Foody Week.
It was brilliant and would love to mention everyone by name but would take all day.  So much expertise in one week for all stages and staff was marvelous and certainly made us all aware and proud  of our local and national food production process .
Really hope you`re able to find a space. We all had a Foody Ball !!
Thank you
